Quality Assurance
All of the company's production occurs within Australia, widely regarded as the safest place in the world to produce food. Today's consumer however, is no longer prepared to take this type of information for granted and instead needs verification that the food they eat is safe and healthy.
In recognition of this concern the company has implemented a world class Quality Assurance Program that covers every stage of production from genetic selection to boxed beef. With this in place the company can ensure that it complies with all livestock and meat industry legislation, whilst at the same time it meets the quality and safety expectations of the consumer. In satisfying both these commitments Security Foods has implemented a Quality Management System based on ISO9001. Overarching this standard, the company uses the internationally recognized HACCP system.
Animal Welfare
There is a genuine concern within the community for the welfare of farm animals. Animal welfare is a human responsibility that encompasses all aspects of keeping and rearing animals. Security Foods accepts that it has a responsibility for the welfare of all the animals under its ownership and management.
Apart from the welfare of the individual, there are compelling production reasons for adopting best practice standards for animal welfare. An animal that is unstressed is more likely to achieve high growth targets and is less likely to succumb to disease, than an animal experiencing underlying stress.
In promoting best practice standards for the general care, husbandry and management of its animals, the company has prepared and adopted a code of practice that details the standards expected of its agents and representatives. The company requires that all parties involved in the care and management of its cattle are familiar with this code of practice and comply with the expressed duty of care. This extends to all personnel who work with the animals including employees. A firm commitment to the principle of animal welfare is not just in the best interests of the animals; it is a vital component of the company's marketing program.
Environmental
Security Foods recognises the need for sustainable agriculture and is committed to the preservation of natural resources. Security Foods' goal is to minimize the impact of farming practices and any subsequent land degradation and ecosystem alteration.
Security Foods is aware that unsustainable farming practices can affect the integrity of an ecosystem. The complex interactions between the soil, the vegetation and the climate can be profoundly affected by bad agricultural practice.
The Company has a commitment to constantly monitor its current production and business methods and to monitor, assess and ensure that its environmental performance respects the world's environmental needs.
